Fashion and Design Colleges: Finding the Best
You might be taken aback to realize that if you are considering a career, there probably is a school targeted to that trade to assist you in a no-filler technique for education for that employment field. Desirable schools that cater to targeted careers include anything from culinary arts to criminal justice. Possibly one of the favorite of these are the fashion and design colleges.
There is no lack of available colleges offering fashion designing courses. The worst part of it is that they all will claim to be the best, and their websites do little to refute the claim. I think that, by way of a good bit of research and school review, I have assembled a very strong list of what can easily be considered the best fashion and design colleges in the United States.
These fashion colleges all sit at the same level, and therefore there’s no order to their listing here.
The first to be named is LIM College in downtown Manhattan, New York. They regard themselves as one of the hubs of fashion design colleges in the nation. The school offers various undergraduate programs of study such as visual and fashion merchandising, marketing and management. They also provide graduate MBA programs, for those making preparations for a genuinely fast paced and involved fashion career.
The second to be mentioned is the Fashion Institute of Merchandising, which has been making quite a name for itself amongst the current graduates filing into the fashion industry. They have four different campuses, which allows a higher amount of students and opportunities such as internships and apprenticeships for hard working students who meet the standards. The four campuses are located in Los Angeles, Orange County, San Francisco, and San Diego. Their status as a school is evident in that the hit show Project Runway is filmed on one of the four campuses of FIDM.
The final school that warrants a spot at the top of the list of fashion and design colleges is the Academy of Art University. AAU won “Best Fashion Design & Apparel Design & Programs of 2008″ for their over the top dedication to their students’ impending job prospects. Their commitment consists of offering courses and programs on the internet, so that students who can’t move or commute can still hope to have a serious shot at employment in the fashion world. Among the companies that pick up AAU graduates are: Louis Vuitton, DKNY, BCBG and many, many others.
These are three very strong schools to get you well on your way to a great job in the fashion industry. You can settle for the innumerable other colleges that litter the internet, however these three have a standing that makes for quite a boost to your resume.
